Not much to say here

But the old post was driving me nuts so i thought i'd add a new one.

Not really sure what to tell you. I've been slowly trying to finish my backlog of drawings, before it grows into another backlog of drawings. I've also taken up indoor wall climbing again so that takes up 2 nights which is fun. i'm also planning on taking up a Yoga class again, and between the walls, yoga and badminton i'm hoping to get my body back into some sort of condition.

I'm also going to be training for doing a biking wine tour for the MS Bike tour, should be 2 days of "fun" if all works out. Otherwise it'll be 2 days of hell but for a good cause.

Oh, also hoping to go to a music festival or 2 this summer. Depends on how it all works out.

Anyways i must run and maybe finish a drawing.

Fun and Games

saw this on a friend of mines page and thought i'd post it.

Rules:
You can ask me THREE questions
No matter how crazy, inappropriate, or random they are

I will answer 100% truthfully (be wary i'm a crazy honest person, so if you actually don't want to know the answer, don't ask the question that's the only warning you'll get ;P)

You must do the same in your journal if you ask me something!

Otherwise, things are well here, i bought some books that rock, The Golden Book of Faerie (it's the 4 books in the chronicles of faerie) by O.R. Melling and also Wicked (i can't remember who that is by) anyways, the golden book of Faerie is already cool.

A little reorganizing

So you may have noticed the new layout, or not as it were. But if you do could you please tell me if it actually falls like it's supposed to with the links etc on the right hand side and not on the bottom like seems to occur in my view at the moment.

Otherwise not much is new. Other then that i've asked a guy at work out a few times, we go for lunch. I have no idea where it's going if anywhere, but it's fun and i like him so i guess to quote my grandfather it's better then a poke in the eye with a sharp stick. If things progress to any point similar to a significant other status i'll let y'all know and post a few more dets etc. Though honestly i can't tell one way or the other where this is going as i can't read him to save my life, which i guess is the Gods' fun way of balancing things out. Oh well, i guess i'll just have to wait and see like everyone else. LOL

hmm other then that my stomach has been an absolute ass of late. I'm not sure what i ate to piss it off, but if it didn't involve soy then i'll blame it on forgetting to clean my brita at work and ending up drinking some green water. As it appears that my biotic content is totally out of wack. XP i think in the next few days i'm going to start eating yogurt again (the bioactive stuff) and i'll be avoiding corn (popcorn etc) and onions like the plague. Otherwise rice, though it really doesn't fill me up is my friend. YAY rice, i always hated it and i have a feeling i won't be eating much of it for a long time after this. I'm also apparently avoiding junk food, not fun but i think necessary. Fingers crossed my stomach will forgive me and go back to enjoying food as much as my mouth does.

Oooh i did go see Dracula done by the Royal Winnipeg Ballet. What a riot that was, very fun/energetic/funny and well put together on a whole. If you get an opportunity to go see it i highly recommend it. The "Red Dance" i admit was a bit weird but the wolf costume rocked and well the wolf's dance skills were fabu. So i guess i'll forgive the bizarre dance interlude.

Anyways if you could let me know if the new layout is working i'd really appreciate it.

Soy What?!?

So i was just poking through this wee little paper that gets delivered to our house and what to i find but an article titled, you guessed it, "Soy What?". It was exalting in the "joy" that is soy. Telling us that even though soy isn't the wonder food that we were all led to believe it's still a wondrous thing to eat and everyone should have some in their life.
What bugs me about this, and well many other articles like it is that everyone forgets about the "poor souls" who are soy intolerant, like myself. So now that everyone has joined on the "soy-is-god" band wagon what are us poor soy intolerant people to do?
Well some of you may think, "sure whatever soy intolerant! next thing you'll be selling me ..." I should know i've encountered such responses in my own family. For example, my sister (bless her) who figured since she was gluten/lactose intolerant that really must be my problem and the "soy" issue was just my way of not giving up milk. One soy-protein boosted shake unknowingly consumed by me relieved her of these beliefs as i spent 3 days curled in a ball in screaming pain as my body tried to process something it couldn't digest. I really have to say it wasn't fun. But then again it proved my point so in the end i sorta have to thank her, 'cause there was always that doubt that maybe it wasn't the soy.
Now i'm sure you're wondering why am i ranting about this now?
Well i don't know about you but have y'all noticed the number of products that come with "soy" of some form or another added to them. To clarify, it appears to be the soy protein, soy flour and soy oil (in really high doses) that sets me off. Soy sauce (thank the gods) and soya lecthin don't seem to bother me in the least. or possibly i just never eat enough of either to notice anything. So to continue, they're plunking soy into everything. Not even peanut butter is safe. Damn them at Kraft and Skippy for swapping to the soy oil, i'm now relegated to the crappy not-quite-smooth organic stuff.
There is so far that i can tell only one granola bar on the market that doesn't have soy in it. The salty sweet line by Nature Valley. What i'll never understand is how soy flour makes it into all their other bars but not these to. Either way i thank them for the small graces.
So then there's power bars, in an earthquake i'm shafted, hell even chicken strips aren't safe. I'd been wondering why these chicken strips my mom bought were making my tummy upset. well turns out they're only 20% meat protein, the rest is soy. YARGH!!
my food supply has become severly limited, there's not "Mr. Noodles" like things, many types of bread, or even some types of chips. It's nuts.
Though i guess in a way i do eat healthier because of it, but it's still worrisome as this "soy" bandwagon doesn't seem to be slowing down, and it appears that it will eventually leave those of us who are soy intolerant in the dust.
Either way i dare you to start reading the labels just to find out how many random things people are adding to your "faithful" foods. Probably one of the most hilarious things about soy is the amount of processing it needs to go through so that it's digestible by most humans. The list of chemicals on to tofu pack is rather disturbing especially if you aren't splurging for the organic. And even still, calcium chloride yum.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Hey all. I hope you had a fabulous Christmas and New Years!!

I did, though it was super busy. Well new years was relaxed and wonderful over in Vancouver, eating cupcakes and watching movies with the best bud whom i met in grade 3. Sooo much fun.

Hmm then this weekend, yesterday to be specific myself, Evil and Tim went over to Vancouver to go see Body Worlds. Holy Cow!!! it was soooo cool. And i'm not just saying that. It was really cool and rather overwhelming but so stunning. it was nuts. If you have a chance to go see it I'd highly recommend it. It's REALLY neat!

Anyways not much else to report other then that i'm currently addicted to Snow Patrol's CD, i loved them when i lived in Scotland but never got around to buying a CD, but i got it for christmas this year. YAY!!! I like all the songs on the CD
this one in particular:

Set The Fire To The Third Bar
Snow Patrol Feat. Martha Wainwright

I find the map and draw a straight line
Over rivers, farms, and state lines
The distance from here to where you'd be
It's only finger-lengths that I see
I touch the place where I'd find your face
My finger in creases of distant dark places

I hang my coat up in the first bar
There is no peace that I've found so far
The laughter penetrates my silence
As drunken men find flaws in science

Their words mostly noises
Ghosts with just voices
Your words in my memory
Are like music to me

I'm miles from where you are,
I lay down on the cold ground
I, I pray that something picks me up
And sets me down in your warm arms

After I have travelled so far
We'd set the fire to the third bar
We'd share each other like an island
Until exhausted, close our eyelids
And dreaming, pick up from
The last place we left off
Your soft skin is weeping
A joy you can't keep in

I'm miles from where you are,
I lay down on the cold ground
And I, I pray that something picks me up
and sets me down in your warm arms

And miles from where you are,
I lay down on the cold ground
and I, I pray that something picks me up
and sets me down in your warm arms

Merry Christmas Everyone

Hello all and Merry Christmas. It's a nice little wind storm here on the west coast of Canada. Lots of rain and blustery weather, but it's all good just adds to the fun.

I hope you are all doing well this Yule, Christmas and New Year!!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!

Well Happy Halloween or Samhain, whichever you choose, to Everyone!!

Today was a bizzar but fun day with our entire branch off on retreat. Lots of fun to be had including a funkiest etc hat contest as there was no costuming it to the retreat. But lots of fun none the less. For those of you who knew me at UNBSJ i pulled a classic "hat" idea from my Halloween costume closet and went as a "red-eyed susan". That is i took a bandana and used a stapler to attached some petals (though for any of you know know botany and red-eyed susans we know they're actually bracts ^_~) from this funky foam stuff you can get in most craft stores, drew a few bugs on (spider and a ladybug) and put my bandana on my head pulled the petals down and BOO! it's a flower hat.

Lots of fun, won the wackiest hat award, and got lots of complements.

Otherwise the retreat was quite interesting, and maybe that's because it's my first time going to this type of retreat, but i found it highly education (always important).

Anyways i hope y'all had as colourfull a Halloween as i did ^__^;
